For some time, in the concrete/asphalt isle where I reside, some people of the environmental persuasion took the mission of cleaning the sand in assorted beaches. Some go deeper and do scuba cleaning of them salty waters.
I request that some cleaning should take place in our metro zones. After all, only a segment of the population enjoy the beach. Most are aware that the AAA, the government agency in charge of water treatment, discharge the used water, treated or not, in many streams, lakes and rivers reaching eventually the
so lovingly 'clean' beach.
For that reason many beaches are contaminated with ECHOLI. Believe it or not. In consequence, those philanthropist beach cleaners should put pressure on the polluting agency to have clean, treated waters.
Since the employees paid by the state to clean these beaches do not do their work or are short staffed, create a permanent office for BEACH CLEANING VOLUNTEERS.
It should be opened during the week, office hours. Gloves, collapsible trash cans and tools to grab the rubbish without bending your body.
This good Samaritans, should also share their good will with sidewalks and streets. After all we live in a city, spending 80/90 percent of our time around it. Why the infatuation with the beaches? Lets clean the cities also!
